New PSHE Toolkit for schools to pilot
With Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) becoming statutory in all schools from September 2019 schools need practical, thoughtful and helpful resources to help them teach RSE.
We are looking for schools to trial Myth vs Reality, our new PSHE Toolkit for KS3 which looks at pornography, healthy relationships and body image online. Myth vs Reality is an extension of our hugely successful practical PSHE toolkit ‘Crossing the Line’ which aims to generate discussions amongst young people in KS3 about their experiences online.
These can be difficult topics to discuss in classrooms and we want teachers to give us feedback on our resources which have been created by our online safety experts who speak to thousands of pupils, teachers and parents each year.
What will your school gain from piloting the toolkit?
You will have:
- exclusive access to resources so you are better prepared to fulfil the requirements of RSE
- a unique opportunity to input into a resource which will be available for schools across the UK
- 25% discount on a 1 year subscription to the Childnet Digital Leaders Programme. Schools already subscribed to the programme can use the discount on renewal or speak with a member of the Digital Leaders team for more information.

What is covered in this toolkit?
Following focus groups conducted across the UK, young people expressed the need for education about the portrayal of gender, bodies and relationships online with a particular need for education about the reality of online pornography stating that “the less educated people are about sex and relationships the more they are going to try and look for it.”
Toolkit Outline
|
This latest instalment of the toolkit covers the topics of Online Pornography, Healthy Relationships Online and Online Body Image. Each topic is covered in its own PSHE lesson which includes a unique set of character monologues, which were developed directly with young people across the UK. These monologues are to be used as a spring board for discussion about the key myths young people are experiencing online, allowing them to discover their own truth and develop strategies for coping with online pressure.
Youth involvement in the PSHE Toolkit
We carried out research to find out what young people wanted from RSE lessons and with their help developed a set of character monologues following the thoughts of 3 young people.
