Thank you to everyone who entered the Childnet Film Competition 2021!
This year’s event came to an exciting close earlier this month when our online Big Reveal film premiere was watched live by schools across the UK.
Together we celebrated the creativity, filmmaking skills, and online safety knowledge from dozens of entries across the Primary, Secondary and Storyboard categories.
The top three entries in each category were also announced, along with the winners.
Our congratulations go to Victoria College Preparatory School and Greenacres Academy in the Primary category; to Bolton School Girls Division, Tuxford Academy and Ranelagh School in the Secondary category; and to Kingscourt School, Two Mile Ash School and Frome Vale Academy in the Storyboard section.

‘Well done to everybody involved!’
The Childnet Film Competition has been running for 12 years and is open to all young people who live in the UK aged 7-18. There were three categories this year – a Primary category for 7-11 year olds, a Secondary category for 11-18 year olds, and a Storyboard category.
The competition’s 2021 theme was: Separating fact from fiction. Finding trustworthy information online.
The Film Competition judging panel – including representatives from the Motion Picture Association, British Board of Film Classification, British Film Institute, BAFTA, BBC and Disney – were certainly impressed with the quality of entries.
As was Childnet CEO and a Director of the UK Safer Internet Centre, Wil Gardner.
He said: “With close to 100 entries, involving more than 200 young people, we managed to select the top three from each category who we feel most reflect the theme.
“It was not an easy job and we enjoyed watching each and every film that was entered. We want to encourage everybody to keep going with their filmmaking.”
He continued: “This year’s competition has been supported with funding from the EU and by the Motion Picture Association and Disney. Thanks to them for making this possible. We also need to thank the British Board of Film Classification, who have classified all of the films from this year’s finalists. Well done to everybody involved and see you next year!”
