We are delighted to reveal the winners of the first ever Childnet Film Competition International category!
For the first time, young people who attend school outside of the UK were able to enter Film Competition by submitting their short films reflecting a positive message on this year’s theme: Separating fact from fiction. Finding trustworthy information online.
Entries flooded in from schools in countries around the globe, including the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Myanmar, Ireland, India, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Moldova.
The winners of the two age categories, who are awarded £500 to spend on filming equipment for their school, are:
- Ages 7-11 – Jumeirah English Speaking School, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Ages 11-18 – Nazarbayev Intellectual school, Kokshetau, Kazakhstan
Will Gardner, CEO of Childnet and a Director of the UK Safer Internet Centre, said: “Our congratulations to Jumeirah English Speaking School and Nazarbayev Intellectual School for becoming the first ever Childnet Film Competition International winners.
“We were hugely impressed by the quality of the short films submitted from around the world and delighted to see entries from so many different countries.
“Well done to everyone who entered this year’s competition and did such a great job of reflecting the theme in a creative and engaging way!”
About the Childnet Film Competition
For the past 12 years, The Childnet Film Competition has challenged young filmmakers across the UK to create a short film in response to a given theme. The main criteria is that entries must contain a positive message and be able to educate other young people.
