The Childnet Film Competition encourages young people aged 7-18 to create a short film to educate their peers about staying safe online.
We were excited to announce the winners of our sixth annual Childnet Film Competition at a private screening at the BFI in London on Monday 13th July.
This year we were delighted to team up with PhonepayPlus to offer a new ‘PhoneBrain’ category about hidden costs in mobiles, alongside a further two categories for primary and secondary schools. With over 130 entries across the three categories, the standard was higher than ever. The nine finalists met the challenge set by the competition amazingly well, addressing many of the key issues young people face online in a fun, creative and positive way.
Judged by a panel of experts from PhonepayPlus, BBFC and BFI, as well as vlogger Lily Pebbles and previous Film Competition finalist Jude, the winners were announced and the young finalists got to see their films on the big screen!
But it doesn’t end there! Now the young people’s films will have an even wider impact, as the films become resources for schools and youth groups to use to educate young people about staying safe online.
