Head of Editorial Standards, BBC Children’s
FUN FACT:
Catherine cannot pick her favourite Film Competition entry of all time. She just had to say ‘all of them’.
Catherine, can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your role is at the BBC?
I’m head of editorial standards in the BBC Children’s department, so I help make sure that the programmes and online content we produce is suitable and appropriate for our younger audiences.
And what’s most enjoyable part of your job?
I get to watch loads of great content, so that’s really lucky. And of course the best part of all is judging the Childnet Film Competition!
What advice would she give to parents who are overseeing the project (or taking part)?
Let your child’s imagination run wild! I think the best films we’ve seen are the ones where the children had a clear idea of what they wanted to do and then were able to deliver it without too much influence from grown ups!
What has been your all-time favourite film entry and why?
It’s hard enough trying to judge a winner each year from all the great entries, let alone pick an all-time favourite! So I’m going to say ‘all of them’.
